telnet broken

Hi,

uh, suddenly telnet is completely broken.  On Linux it hangs on a connection
after printing one line of the welcome message, in the Hurd it segfaults.
I even got a connection refused at one time.

That is using the telnetd from GNU/Linux netkit.

I don't know enough about telnet to debug this right now, I suspect it is a
libinetutils bug anyway... maybe someone can take a look at this?
