Maybe if yeah, we only had in the pull-down language
list languages in which we can currently moderate, and
then I put an extra bit in the "help file" saying
something to this effect:

"We can't moderate in languages we cannot read. So if
you wish to write an article in a language we do not
have in this list, please first try to write it in a
language that is in the list, and then if you submit
two such articles you can become a moderator and we
can extend the list to include your language. You will
then be able to provide the "translation" of your
article, by submitting the original article and
accepting it yourself."

This will rely on people submitting it in another
language, but then again if they can read the site
they should be able to do this! It will also need us
to build in a clause in the programming that allows
people to accept translations they themselves have
written of their own article. Or could this lead to
people putting in unacceptable translations? Arghhh...
complicated!
