Hello,

I am new in createing DVD-R's on Linux. I have used the drive
on Windows but I hope to get better results on Linux, so I gave
it a chance. I could not found some special information to
create a DVD on the dvdrtools-tree. Only the examples in the
dvdrecord-manpage. These are quite similar to the cdrecord
I have used many times.

I have created a diskimage with
        mkisofs -R -D -J -o dvd.iso dvd

Then I tried to write it on the DVD-R with the command
        dvdrecord -v dev=2,0,0 /home/karl/dvd.iso

This gives the following information:

Cdrecord 1.11a13 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2001 J"rg Schilling
TOC Type: 1 = CD-ROM
scsidev: '2,0,0'
scsibus: 2 target: 0 lun: 0
Linux sg driver version: 3.1.17
Using libscg version 'schily-0.5'
atapi: 1
Device type : Removable CD-ROM
Version : 0
Response Format: 2
Capabilities :
Vendor_info : 'PIONEER '
Identifikation : 'DVD-RW DVR-103 '
Revision : '1.65'
Device seems to be: Generic mmc2 DVD.
Using generic SCSI-3/mmc DVD-R(W) driver (mmc_mdvd).
Driver flags : SWABAUDIO
Supported modes: PACKET SAO
Drive buf size : 1245184 = 1216 KB
FIFO size : 4194304 = 4096 KB
dvdrecord: Drive does not support TAO recording.
dvdrecord: Illegal write mode for this drive.

I have looked for some information around this problem,
but could not find anything.

So I hope to get some useful information here.

BTW: The drive works great with CD-R's.

With best regards
Marten Karl
