First of all thanks for the feedback, LDAP seems to be working just fine.

FWIW, i copied the slapd.conf.in (which looks like the default starting 
place) and then let the install script modify the values...
Perusing the results, things look alright.

The install doesn't seem to complete however, it appears that the last 
breadcrumb executed is

Changing SF_robot passwd using admin account
