I do think the "run it over night" suggestion is reasonable for
certain kinds of models (I know, not yours).  The goal should be to conserve
modeler mental cycles, not to avoid wasting computer cycles (if the
waste is affordable).

Incidentally, I think that using MathLink (or whatever the latest API
is from Wolfram, maybe something Java-based?), it would be
easy to introduce composable `Action', `Schedule' and `Swarm' objects into
Mathematica.
