Although there is a military focus, a good reference source of information
is Andrew Ilachinshki' Web page. He has a reference page that has a good
list of articles, books, and source material. His two part treatment of
land warfare and complexity does a good introductory job of covering the
mathematical basis for complexity.

Subject: Good Books on Complexity Theory??
I ran across Foundations of Complex-System Theories : In Economics,
Evolutionary
Biology, and Statistical Physics by Sunny A. Auyang in a bookstore
recently. I'm tempted to get it, since on first perusal it looked pretty
interesting. However, I thought it would be more prudent to find out what
my fellow modelers have read and thought was worthwhile. In particular, I
am doing some work on applying evolutionary models/theory to social science
and mulit-agent models. But, I am also looking for some general must reads
in complexity and agent-based modeling.
In the interest of bandwidth, feel free to email me directly. I will
compile the results.
Darren
