Try this:

telnet mail.myisp.com 143

The first line should give you the version info on the imap server. 
Please paste it here.  

Secondly please paste the *complete* output from phpinfo()'s "Configure
Command" output (3rd box from the top) ... and you php and apache
versions would also be helpful.
