 Hello.

I'm a spiral synth user who has just discovered om-synth. My first goal was to get the midi plugin of ssm running, but I found that the development was interrupted for om synth, so here am I :)

I have encountered the same problems than krampenschiesser and Vinicius Santos (om-gtk: list not filled with patches), so I will paste here the whole informations about my configuration that I think could help you.

(p.s.: I'm french, so excuse my bad english ;) )

*om version:* om-0.2.0 compiled with --prefix=/usr and the defaut options om-cvs(26/01/2006) prefix=/usr, default
                       (same problem with both)

*system: *gentoo, linux-2.6.14-r5 ('rX' stand for the revision number made by gentoo) patched for realtime

*glibc: *2.3.5-r2 portage installation, flags: default + nls

***gtk:* gtk2: 2.8.8 portage installation gtkmm: 2.8.1 portage installation

*alsa: *kernel driver (built as module) with:
sequencer support, OSS mixer API, OSS PCM API, OSS seq API, RTC as defaut seq timer, USB audio MIDI driver (I use a USB/MIDI converter for my MIDI), VIA AC97 controler (my chipset)

*jack: *0.99.0-r1 portage, with-alsa, with-oss

*liblo: *0.22*

flowcanvas: *from cvs(26/01/2006)* *prefix=/usr, default

*omins: *0.2.0 prefix=/usr, default

*patchage: *0.2.3 prefix=/usr, default

*ladspa: *ladspa-cmt(1.15), ladspa-sdk(1.12-r2), liblrdf(0.3.7), blop(0.2.8), caps-plugins(0.2.1-r1), fil-plugins(0.0.1), mcp-plugins(0.3.0), rev-plugins(0.2.1), swh-plugins(0.4.11), tap-plugins(0.7.0), vco-plugins(0.3.0), vlevel(0.5)

Maybe that's a bit too much for a simple gtk's problem, but it's my way to say: if you need someone testing something for this architecture, I'm open ;)

Well, now, what's about the logs? (my current version is the cvs one, but as I said, it's the same with the stable one)

*jack: *

   $ jackd -Rd alsa
   jackd 0.99.0
   loading driver ..
   creating alsa driver ...
   hw:0|hw:0|1024|2|48000|0|0|nomon|swmeter|-|32bit
   control device hw:0
   configuring for 48000Hz, period = 1024 frames, buffer = 2 periods
   [...]
   Couldn't open hw:0 for 24bit samples trying 16bit instead

*om:
*

   $ om
   [AlsaMidiDriver] Successfully opened ALSA sequencer.
[OSC] Started OSC server at osc.udp://gentoo:16180/
   [PreProcessor] Launching thread.
   [PostProcessor] Starting.

*om-gtk:
*

   $ om_gtk
   [GladeFactory] Loading widgets from /usr/share/om/om_gtk.glade
[StateManager] Unable to open settings file /home/kik/.omgtkrc
[Main] No engine URL specified. Attempting to use
   osc.udp://localhost:16180
[OSCController] Started OSC listener on port 15551
[OSCController] Attempting to contact engine at
   osc.udp://localhost:16180/ . connected
[OSCController] Waiting for response 2: received.
   [Controller] Registered with engine

*om:
*

   [JackAudioDriver] Activated Jack client.
[AlsaMidiDriver] Unable to start realtime MIDI thread.
   [AlsaMidiDriver] Started non-realtime MIDI thread.
[OSC] Registered client osc.udp://gentoo:15551/ (1 clients)
   [JackAudioDriver] Enabling.

Then, I try to open the patch /usr/share/om/patches/sine.om

*om-gtk:
*

   [PatchLibrarian] Loading patch /usr/share/om/patches/sine.om
[OSCController] Waiting for response 6: received.

 But nothing other happen.
If I open patchage, I can see a sine entry on the om module, so I think it's a gtk only problem...

 hopping that's would help you,
         olivier El Mekki

p.s.: oh, and what's about this ~/.omgtkrc? Could we put any options in it?
