Looks like the interesting stuff did not make it into the strace  
output. Try running strace with the -f option. Monit daemonize itself  
by forking twice and this is not part of the trace output. Instead of  
bothering the mailing list with large posts with trace listings,  
please create a bug report for this and attach the new strace output  
here
