[Mldonkey-users] max_opened_connections

Hi all,

today I discovered something really interesting: When I had max_opened_connections set to 400, I rarely got one single byte downloaded, no matter how popular the file, then I set it to 100, and, voila, suddenly, I have download rates between 1-5 k/s. I tried to find out why this happens (I expected it to be the other way round), and this is my explanation: If there are too many opened connections, my provider (German t-online) begins dropping them. It's 512 if I am correct. So i did 'echo "512" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_max', and then lowered max_opened_connections until no more messages like 'ip_conntrack: table full, dropping packet.' would appear in the logs. It is now set to 130, which seems to be the best setting. Can anyone confirm that providers are dropping connections (especially t-online), and/or that this is remotely connected to download rates of mldonkey?
