Hi all,
Revision 2271 of the repository now works fine for all of my projects
(msmtp, mpop, gta, Bino). Thanks!
I cannot use the stable branch anymore for the following reasons:
- Some package versions are simply outdated (e.g. FFmpeg)
- Some package versions have known security problems (e.g. OpenSSL,
GnuTLS, FFmpeg, probably many more).
Are there plans to update the stable branch?
Providing security updates for the stable branch would most probably be
far too much work (follow upstream and distribution advisories;
cherry-pick patches; test; announce), but a stable branch without
security updates is not very useful.
The development version does not have this problem, since upstream
updates are imported quickly.
Has the stable branch outlived its usefulness?
Martin
