Hello all,

I have posted all old emails seperately to the lwip-users list using a
nifty Bash script
and the plain mailbox-format archives I got from Adam (Adam, you can delete
the
files on the server, thanks).

There are some issues on Savannah that screwed up my plan though.

I was smart enough to disable email reception off all new subscribers on
lwip-users so
that early subscribers did not receive 8 MB of emails.

The From: and Subject: fields are kept intact, although [lwip-users] is
prepended by Savannah.
The Date: is modified to the new posting date. I intentionally posted the
emails with a 1 second
delay, so that they might be sorted on date correctly.

Savannah then started moderating the incoming emails, as they came from
mostly non-subscribers.
(Adam, this is when I received moderation requests :-)

I have then removed Adam as list admin temporarely, so I hope I didn't fill
his mailbox too much...

I have then accepted all emails. This started to screw up the order of
emails that went to the lwip-users
list as they came moderated alphabetically by author, and grouped by author
as well.

!! Moreover, this started notifying the original author of the email that
his/her email was being postponed
for acception. I was not aware of this feature until I started moderating
my own emails to the old list...
I may have made some people really mad...

So, we ended up with the emails in place in some arbitrary order as I
proceeded through the steps
of accepting the emails (which took me a whole evening :-)

The good thing is they will be at least searchable once Savannah has
created its first archive,
which is set to happen monthly (but I haven't seen the archive created
yet...).

I have just re-enabled email reception by current subscribers and will be
posting a test message
shortly.

Regards,

Leon
