I think you are right and the problem is memory rather than lilypond. It is true that my computer is a dog.

As it happened, I typed everything in lilypond directly.

I think I am going to input everything in separate files.

Which platform and OS are you using? Are you typing your 28,072
characters into an editor, or directly into LilyPond, or what?
On the face of it, this does not sound like a limitation in
LilyPond itself.
