Weird because I just put in that url (when got me to
http://wayback.archive.org/web/*/http://www.sonydadc.com/file/cdtext.zip )

and it found something. And I don't believe I have any greater intelligence
than you.

One of my Ubuntu boxes didn't have much trouble using Libre; the part that
you are probably most interested in is pretty much straight text. A lot of
the document is concerned with how Sony expects folks to enter, check and
create CD's with CD Text. I think the value is more for historical
curiosity than it is for how to write programs to read CD Text.

Since you are a nice guy, if you want I'll convert these to text and send
it to you privately.

BUT...  and this I think is important...

Folks all this back and forth and digging around and realizing this isn't
exactly in the right kind information or document format is why someone
should write better documents for CD Text. And if not us (where this issue
has been coming up), then by whom?

Particularly need is something describing what CD Text expects and now that
-- thanks to Leon -- libcdio can read these more properly, how programs can
get access to reading CD Text.

I know this isn't a new or particularly novel observation, but I am always
amazed that someone can post a query about something and someone else will
know the answer and respond.
