For the sake of maintaining your emotional balance, I recommend you
immediately stop using the software created by idiots that upsets you
so much. Maybe you'd be happier with numpy, which does have a 1-d
array type, unlike Octave. Sadly, however, numpy also has broadcasting
rules (in fact, they inspired Octave's).
