Did octave make the computer crash? Try the version from
http://www.site.uottawa.ca/~adler/octave/
It's old, but is completely statically built, so it
may work well on win98

The image from octave.
Octave creates a small HTML file with the image magnification,
and a BMP image, which is passed to IE to display.
