Forgot to put the list in the CC.

By the way, isn't it possible to let the sender be: address@hidden
So that a reply automagicaly gets to the mailing list instead of to the
person?

kind regards,
Gerald

There is a fundamental difference between maple and octave.
Maple is a CAS (Computer Algebra System) and works with formulea
Octave is has a numerical approach and thus doesn't work with them.

The program you are looking for is called Maxima.

so to be short:
you want a substitute for Maple / Mathematica / derive --> Maxima
you want a substitute for Matlab --> Octave

Kind regards
Gerald
