Compiling problem for Suse 6.2

Hi:

I just moved to Suse 6.2 and am trying to compile octave 2.1.20. I get
the following error message during compilation:

"ar: path-elt.o: No such file or directory"

during the `kpathsea' make.

Any idea or suggestion.
