The MATLAB license agreement (shown during installation) prohibits copying
and distribution of M-files under a wide variety of conditions, including
the Gnu public license, under which Octave is distributed.

While some individuals in U. S. politics have difficulty understanding what
"is" is, the MATLAB license is fairly clear. You are licensed to use the
m-files yourself. You are not permitted to sell them, distribute them, copy
them for other people to use, etc., so if YOU use them, there's no
infringement on MathWorks licensing. If you give them to someone else to
use, then you're out of bounds.

I am aware of no listing such as what you describe. In general, if it's
numerical, it ought to go o.k. (95% of the time). If it involves plotting,
then you're going to need to do some (mild) rewriting.
