What do you mean "sticks"? The above zeroes out one stick; you have two?

You did not say which device is what.

Well,

To be able to see for which directory Grub2 (v1.99) looks for, install
"xz" or "lzma".
..><--

So one interesting part is missing. Otherwise

dev/md0 8ox40v-ic6i-GkVX-28WX-vCfJ-K4rS-HiMXPz LVM2_member
/dev/sda1 705b5c0f-4274-459f-ba16-60dc64d27eac ext4
/dev/sdb1 ce66e84b-8499-4150-d774-f790461de4ab
linux_raid_member debian64-rescue:md0
/dev/sdc1 ce66e84b-8499-4150-d774-f790461de4ab
linux_raid_member debian64-rescue:md0

I do not understand - you have *two* sticks with mirror between them
but boot from one of them? Could you describe what you did in some
more details.

Are you doing it when booted from /dev/sda?

Sorry, you really need to give step by step description what you do.
Copy-paste of all commands after boot would probably be the best. I
really do not understand your configuration.
