Hello!
If I remember correctly the HP z600 is an EFI based X64 system. Its
one of their Integrity series of machines designed normally to run
VMS, and is based on the older DEC Alpha family of systems.

So that might be why something is wrong.

It is possible to run EFI in BIOS Emulation modes, but not something
I'd want to risk an in an important line of business series of
applications.

As for the other HP system, depending on how old it is, I believe its
also an EFI based one also, and to boot Linux on these machines
requires tricky business.

Grub2 does grok EFI functions, but it isn't happy about it.

Remember EFI is something that Intel developed largely in response to
what AMD developed, which is in fact the UEFI functions.

At least that's how I'm remembering it.
