Grace notes

Hello,

I have two questions concerning grace notes...

I've got this measure:
[e,8 \grace {e8} fis8(] [)fis8 e8] [fis,8 cis8]

The first problem is that lilypond adds way too much horizontal space next to 
the grace note, so that the space between the e,8 and the first fis8 is 
more than twice as big as the space between the other eighth notes, which 
looks quite strange. Is there a way to change that? (i.e. putting the grace 
note closer to the following fis8, and also reducing the space between the 
e,8 and the grace note).

The second problem is that the slur starts at the grace note, but it should 
start at the main note...
(I know it's actually a tie, but "fis8] [fis8~" didn't work at all).

I think both questions have been asked before, but I couldn't find any 
solution, except "wait until the grace note stuff has been completely 
rewritten" :-(
So is there anything I can do to solve these problems? I don't 
mind if the solution is ugly, I just need something that works for the 
moment...

I'm using lily 1.4.3, BTW.
