If you can fit it, more power to you.
It's worth pointing out that the maintainers have to agree that this
first-line-summary thing is a good policy, and they have to check that
new contributions follow the format. Otherwise, it bit-rots rather
quickly, and then apropos becomes less than useful. At least in
Emacs, I've seen that it takes rather active vigilance.
