As another retired gentleman, I have considered making
contributions to groff; eg when it was orphaned I thought
of offering to maintain TBL, which I use extensively (even
for purposes for which it was never intended -- such a
versatile tool!). Then the thought of relearning C++ was too
much...
Regarding the addition of real numbers to troff, as I've
said before I'm against code bloat, so I say no ... especially
as Ted's PIC solution does the job.
In addition Werner has too much on his plate (you've been
doing this for over ten years, Werner, everyone has I assume
read your interview for tug.org with Dave Walden). Keep to
the essentials.
