Shoulda taken the bet. Looking at the manual:

The onboard serial port is selectable for +12V or +5V.  Unlear about the
-12V part os RS-232, but seelct the +5 and a bareboard GNSS will work
fine.  Use 2" wires, wrap the GNSS in bubble wrap, and leave it in the
case.
