When I was testing the gpsd on the pi I also had first tested using the daemon in Ubuntu(linux) using the same hardware plugged into usb. I could then access it through terminal and other graphical windows . Finally I could access the daemon thru any C++ programs I was writing ( quite a few others use python as well I hear ).  You could use windows7/8/10  to test out using the daemon as well I guess.  Anyhow I did have success using QT as the development environment. Not sure how get the proper libs in order to access  gpsd  in Eclipse or Visual Studio IDEs.

you must research and learn yourself.  you are not only learning to connect gpsd to an RPI you are teaching yourself how to learn on your own.  i have been using rpi since the pre release days, I learned what I needed myself by google.

if you do not heed such advice, when you really are stuck, people will not help you.  you ***must*** put in the effort yourself.  if you show that you have done your part, people will  be willing to assist.
