There's been some talk on the computer-go list recently about 9x9 go.
Gnugo, like many programs, is not very good at 9x9. In fact, one could
say it is quite bad, since I've seen amatuer 2-3d players beat it a 4
stone handicap, and I think stronger players can win at 5 stones
regularly. Such games almost always involve a variety of very bad moves.
Is there interest in improving it? If other people are interested in
doing or helping with the tuning, I would be happy to start collecting
test cases. But, if no one else is interested, then I doubt that such an
effort would really be worth my time.
