The Player class has in fact been registering an fs_command callback handler for
months. I just added code to pass it on to virtual methods in the Gui class. 
There is
also a new callback for GUI events from the core, which is likewise passed on to
Gui. The methods are so far reimplemented only in the GTK gui.
