Horribly off-topic - but wasn't the law changed to allow
covenant style tax rules to apply to single donations if
accompanied by a signed declaration that it was from a UK tax payer.

I'm fairly sure it was as I'm sure I paid money to one switched
on charity that produced appropriate forms, where as another
charity I contribute to wasn't switched on enough to put this on
their donation forms.

I'd hate for the tax man to get his hands on charitable
donations by our subscribers even if it isn't to do with free
software.

 Simon, who is much more tight fisted than this post suggests,
but did ensure that the 2001 Linux Day proceeds from Devon &
Cornwall ended up with the NAGC http://www.nagc.org/, although
in that case without tax relief of course.
