It looks like we need to fix our use of the open system call, by
providing the third argument (as mode) when creating a file.
>From the "open" online manual page:
"... mode must be specified when O_CREAT is in the flags, and is
ignored otherwise ... The following symbolic constants are provided
for mode: ..."
Since I am not familiar with the code, can you please suggest what
possible modes can be used?
