Freetalk does not build with optimization levels 1, 2, 3 and 4.

$ make CFLAGS="-O2 -g -pipe -Wall -Wp,-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -fexceptions
-fstack-protector --param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -m32 -march=i386
-mtune=generic -fasynchronous-unwind-tables" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -g -pipe
-Wall -Wp,-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -fexceptions -fstack-protector
--param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -m32 -march=i386 -mtune=generic
-fasynchronous-unwind-tables"

...fails with:

file_transfer.cc: In function 'int ft_send_file_message_data(LmMessage*)':
file_transfer.cc:327: warning: ignoring return value of 'ssize_t
write(int, const void*, size_t)', declared with attribute
warn_unused_result
In function 'int open(const char*, int, ...)',
    inlined from 'int ft_msg_sub_type_set_cb(LmMessage*)' at
file_transfer.cc:222:
/usr/include/bits/fcntl2.h:51: error: call to '__open_missing_mode'
declared with attribute error: open with O_CREAT in second argument
needs 3 arguments
make[1]: *** [file_transfer.o] Error 1

On the other hand, ...

make CFLAGS="-g -pipe -Wall -Wp,-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -fexceptions
-fstack-protector --param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -m32 -march=i386
-mtune=generic -fasynchronous-unwind-tables" CXXFLAGS="-g -pipe -Wall
-Wp,-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -fexceptions -fstack-protector
--param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -m32 -march=i386 -mtune=generic
-fasynchronous-unwind-tables"

...builds successfully.

I am using GCC 4.1.2:

$ gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 4.1.2 20070925 (Red Hat 4.1.2-33)
