While I do use MPS on Android on a regular basis, I'm not sure all
changes are on feature/igc; there's also a possibility that Android will
break support for memory barriers at some point, because the Android
Java GC also uses memory barriers: they're currently using a different
mechanism to implement those, IIUC, but that's subject to change.  (One
of my Android devices has a broken kernel which needs an additional
workaround in MPS).

It's possible to build MPS without memory barriers, FWIW (I've done that
for a FreeDOS build).  No idea whether such builds are still useful.  If
they are, dropping the old GC does become an option.
