"Why is emacs so square?" - It was the easiest way to delineate the M-x zone! - We needed a shape that would save us from fitting in the kill ring! - Yow! Are we feeling square yet? - Is it because why is emacs so square though that you came to me? - Emacs' lisp lead to social stigmitization that meant it never was accepted into the cool crowd!
