That's not --daemon, that's --systray, a different feature which could
be nice for those who, like you, would like Emacs to stay clear of the
desktop.  (I don't share that desire, because I more or less live
inside Emacs, and there's too little space for that in that little
systray icon ;-)

The reason I asked about the sense of having --daemon on Windows is
because Windows, unlike Posix platforms, is not suited well for remote
logins.
