I have had very good results with the following 4x media which are affordable
i think :

Datawrite 4x DVD-R :
http://www.dvd-recordable.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=225&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0

They are Ritek blanco's and run perfectly with the Pioneer A05 as i tested
6 burns in a row here at home. According the above rapport the A05 burns them
smooth when using firmware version 1.21. I was able to buy them at a price
of eur 25,00 for a 10-pack.

The above test results are exactly what i tested here at home :

As i see it now, i think dvdrtools, patched versions of cdrtools for DVD-R(W)
burning are ok software. Its the bad media _batches_ wandering around in shops.
