Apropos robust implementaiton: in 0.4.2, scp failures (like time outs or connection droppings, which occasionally happen on some links) made the backup abort (which is uhm unfortunate), does this still happen? If so, any chance to add retry for scp as well?

The patch for scp retries was applied in RC1. It needs to be tested on a net with connection drops. As to never aborting, it will give up after a few retries, not keep trying forever.
