Follow-up Comment #9, bug #30450 (project denemo):

If I try to put 
"c:Program FilesDenemousrbinlilypond.exe"
in the Externals, (which is correct enough to call lilypond from the windows
command line), I get an error: 

denemo-console.exe 3348
Warning: Error launching lilypond is Failed to execute child process (invalid
argument)

and no results.  I don't think the problem is calling lilypond because that
much actually works, every time.  It's the pdf viewer that doesn't work 50% of
the time.  Even though my theory as to why this problem occurred (involving
ghostscript) was wrong, the observations I made earlier in this thread should
be still applicable--apparently there is a half-dead AcroRd32 process half of
the time (might be worthwhile to try with a different reader).  See earlier
posts if you want the details.
(I was wrong about 0.8.18c not working at all with lilypond, that was due to
bad installation.)
