I happend to run to your question, although not a member of this list...

I think you may find some usefull information on that issue on
http://dd.cron.ru/dbg/downloads.php, which points to
http://dd.cron.ru/dbg/download.php?h=dddpatch, a patch for ddd to enable
debug of PHP with dbg 2.10rc2, a PHP debugger system.

I haven't tried it yet, and unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be
supported very much actually :(
