At the current point of time, there does not seem active translation
work going on for German.

If you were willing to prepare a patch, that would be great.  It might
make sense to announce your intent on the LilyPond translators list
(listed in the Contributor's Guide) just in case some German contributor
is not actually lying dormant but furiously translating chapter after
chapter, in order to avoid parallel work.
