[Bug-gnubg] FW: Bug-gnubg Digest, Vol 65, Issue 21

Interesting!  On one of my machines, I am running Vista 64 bit Home Premium
SP1 with an Nvidia e-GeForce 8500 GT video card.  On this machine, the 3D
board does not work either.

I did try running the routine in Windows XP compatibility mode, but it still
didn't handle the 3D board properly.  This is a brand new machine with all
drivers freshly installed.  I have been running gnubg on it in 2D mode,
assuming that the problem was with Vista 64 bit.  I didn't even bother to
announce the problem because so few people are running Vista 64 bit.
However, the Sony Vaio is almost surely running Vista 32 bit.

At this point, it looks like the problem has to be some incompatibility
between the graphics routines, Vista, and/or the video driver.

I am writing to report what appears to be some kind of bug in GNUBG.
 
Specifically, I cannot pick up the dice and complete a move when using the
3D board (in all recent versions of the program).  I click on the dice (or
anywhere on the board) and it will not complete my move.  Everything works
fine in 2D board.  
 
Does anyone have a solution?

GNUGB 3D will not work on Sony Vaio under Vista.  It simply stays in 2D
mode.
 
The video system is NVIDIA GeForce 8400M - GS

First question I have would be if you have downloaded and installed the
latest Nvidia drivers (OpenGL) for your card (From the Nvidia site):

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_169.25_whql.html  (if you are
using 32 Bit Vista)
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_169.25_whql.html  (if you are
using 64 Bit Vista)
