RE: [Bug-gnubg] GNOMEify the user interface?

When I responded to this thread with my previous post, I happened to
make no mention of what Library/Tools I'd use for the user Interface.

But since people are making opinions known, I would favor QT as well for
the GUI and even the other library components QT offers (Besides the
GUI).

QT Designer is a very reasonable GUI development environment, and along
with Kdevelop are are a very good software development suite. 

But yes, it would require a concerted effort to migrate to QT. Is the
time and effort worth it? I think it depends on what people to perceive
the future of gnubg to be.

If it is to satisfy power users who learn quickly then I'm not sure a
polished look is going to buy anything. And I feel that QT products seem
to have a finesse that GTK etc do not. If the target is for a more
generalized crowd, and gnubg wants to expand to all types of users - I
think change is necessary.

But thats the thing about Open Source - everyone is free to add and make
changes they want. But I think thats why many of the Open Source
products with a GUI look terrible. Older versions of X-Chat had one of
the most bloated UI's for menus. I could never find what I was looking
for.

Maybe in in a roundabout way, I'm wondering if we should consider
looking at some type of UI spec for the product?
