Thanks!  How come you're not just making them to be two branches inside
the same CVS repository?

Not that it would make the flowing back and forth of patches all that
much easier, it being CVS, but it could, with a decent version control
system, at one point.  For example, importing both trees into such a
new VCS would be easier if both trees were branches of a common CVS
repository, I think.
