[be] Merge color to show differences

The drab yellow color for showing merge changes doesn't show up very well. When just a comma has been added or deleted in a chapter, it is like finding a needle in a haystack. Is there a way that the highlight color can be changed by the user? Or could you change it to orange, blood red, medium blue, hot pink, or vivid green?
