Hi,

The merge function is there, and would do what you need.

Create blank project Main, and add all empty books.
Create project Temp with the chapters, e.g. GEN 1-5
Open both projects in Bibledit-Gtk
File / Project / Merge
A Window opens, set master project as Temp, and edited project as Main
Press Merge, and choose to copy Everything from Temp to Main.

Hope that this do what you need. We use it every day for different
purposes.
