I'm guessing that is a packaging error on my part -- completely my
fault, in other words!

Unless the Balsa install has Internet access can can do

  sudo apt-get install git-core

or its equivalent, as a workaround, then I think you are correct.

Does this issue mean that it is now urgent/critical/vitally important
that I create a fixed package with Recommends: git-core   in it?
