Hi to all,
I get last WinAVR 20030913 release and tried to use AVARICE with Insight with
JTAG.
I start AVARICE, then it wait for connection on port 4242 (I also tried to
change the port number, but the result does not change),
C:\AVR\Test>avarice --verify --file testlib.elf --jtag com1 :4242
AVaRICE version 2.0.20030825cvs, Sep 12 2003 12:56:48
JTAG config starting.
Hardware Version: 0xc0
Software Version: 0x67
Reported JTAG device ID: 0x9702
Configured for device ID: 0x9702 atmega128
LockBits -> 0xff
Reading Fuse Bytes:
Extended Fuse byte -> 0xff
High Fuse byte -> 0x00
Low Fuse byte -> 0x0f
JTAG config complete.
Verifying FLASH.................................................................

................................
Download complete.
Waiting for connection on port 4242.
then I start Insight, load the elf file, then select Run, Connect to target,
select Target Remote/TCP, select hostname localhost, select port 4242, download
program in unchecked, then press OK.
AVARICE connect but to a different port and then exit and also Insight give an
error (Could not establish connection to remote target).
Connection opened by host 127.0.0.1, port 1463.
JTAG ICE communication failed: Resource temporarily unavailable
The connection (JTAG, cable Hardware board) works with AVR-studio 3.53, but I
would like to leave AVR-Studio and use Insight instead.
HW board uses a atmega128 running at 16 MHz.
PC is a ASUS notebook (266 MHz with 160 MB ram, 20 GB HDD) running WIN98SE.
Then I tried to discover to origin of the problem: I tried a different JTAG ICE
with different firmware version (0x73) and I had the same problem.
Then I created a new little partition on HD and installed also Windows XP :
with XP Insight and JTAG ICE work great !!!
So, the reason is the windows version.
Is it true that Insight (or avarice) works only on windows NT4, 2K and XP ?
If true, I suggest to state it somewhere in the read me file.
Would be possible in the next release of WinAVR build Insight (or avarice) that
run also on Win98 / WinME ?
If someone run Insight and avarice on Win98 or WinME, can he describes how the
network (or PC) must be configurated ?
Thank you,
Patrizio Zelotti.
