Details:

Here is how to reproduce this behavior:

* I self compiled the Octave stable branch (hg-id 9644c0b7efd8) under Ubuntu
18.04 without any special config options (the only one was --prefix=)
** make check passes with no failing tests
** I did see some warnings about creating links when doing "make install"
afterwards. Maybe they were relevant?
* I start Octave from the build folder with "./run-octave --gui"
* In the GUI I use the menu option "file" - "open"
* result: In the GUI console I see the following message appear:


>> Gtk-Message: 20:51:10.800: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent.
This is discouraged.


Have I done something wrong during the compile / install process? Or do we
need to fix this?
