Hello all,

I had an extended iiwusynth-testing session yesterday, and the good news
is that there aren't any.
Well, actually even some good news: I once commented, that there is
excessive quantization noise, when piano notes are fading out. I tracked
this down, it is a problem with the maestro3 driver. So iiwusynth works
just fine on 16 bits, every one of them :-)

Good to hear.

Also, I tried a couple of GM files. I finally found a decent GM sound
font (fluid.sf2, >> 100 MB); in comparison the original wavetable SW
synthesizer that came preinstalled sounds really pale.

What original SW synthesizer?

The only problem: Users of Iiwuplay are in for a nasty surprise. Looks
like it doesn't handle pitch bend correctly.

Do you mean iiwuplay doesn't handle pitch bend correctly? That must be
a problem in the midi file loader.

BTW: I've started using fixed point for the DSP. Did some testing on
windows (during lunch breaks) at it's working fine so far.
I'll leave it as a compile option to use float or fixed point.
More on that next week I hope.

BTW2: The guys from ALSA were in contact with the designed of the
Vintage Dreams soundfont. He agreed that the soundfont can be
redistributed. I'm thinking of including it in the iiwusynth
distribution because it sound good and it's small. I would like to
find a small GM soundfont for use as a default.

Cheers

Markus
