I had a similar problem on my notebook: it turned out that 
Imagemagick needs the help of two Debian packages: librsvg2-bin 
and libmagickcore-6.q16-3-extra, otherwise the SVG rendering was 
incomplete. I don't understand the real meaning of this, because 
indeed Inkscape and Firefox were rendering the file with no 
trouble.

This is a mistery! I checked the SVG file before attaching it to 
the mail and it was OK. I repeated the check now and it is still 
OK, I get: "This document was successfully checked as SVG 1.1!" I 
started from the URL https://validator.w3.org/, trying both 
"Validate by URI" and "Validate by File Upload".

Please check if you have mixed the old file and the new one, 
indeed the DOCTYPE declaration and <style type=...> are now 
present.

I will keep working on your other suggestions, thanks!
