Hello,

  I think that you should try the "make" binary that comes with
  the mingw version of gcc (see www.mingw.org). Actually, I also
  strongly recommend the Mingw gcc over, as I do all my compiles
  of FreeType on Windows NT 4 with it..

  note that cygwin support has only been added recently, and
  isn't fully tested.

  Maybe distributing the single mingw "make.exe" from the FreeType
  web site would be a good idea, since it can also be used to
  compile with Visual C++ and Win32-LCC

  Any opinion ??
